கடந்த டிசம்பர் மாதத்தில் சீனாவின் வுகான் நகரில் உருவான கொரோனா வைரஸ் என்னும் கொடிய நோய் 4 மாதங்களாக அந்நாட்டை ஆட்டிப் படைத்தது. அங்கு 3,300 மக்கள் பலியாகி 81 ஆயிரம் பேர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். தற்போது சீனாவில் கொரோனா வைரஸ் கட்டுக்குள் வந்து அங்கு மெல்ல இயல்பு நிலை திரும்புகிறது. எனினும் உலகின் மற்ற நாடுகளை கொரோனா வைரஸ் தனது கோர பிடியில் தற்போது வைத்துள்ளது. இத்தாலி, ஸ்பெயின், பிரான்ஸ், அமெரிக்கா, ஈரான், இங்கிலாந்து, இந்தியா என உலகத்தின் 203 நாடுகளுக்கு பரவி கோர தாண்டவம் ஆடி வருகிறது.
உலகளவில் கொரோனாவால் பலியானவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை இன்று 1 லட்சத்தை தொட்டுள்ளது.
இதுவரை 16 லட்சத்திற்கும் அதிகமான மக்கள் கொரோனாவால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு தனிமை சிகிச்சையில் இருக்கும் நிலையில் 1,02,607 மக்கள் உயிரழந்துள்ளனர். கடந்த 24 மணி நேரத்தில் மட்டும் 6 ஆயிரத்திற்கும் அதிகமான மக்கள் கொரோனாவிற்கு பலியாகியுள்ளனர். மொத்தமாக 16,94,954 பேர் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு அவர்களில் 3,76,102 பேர் குணமடைந்து வீடு திரும்பியுள்ளனர்.
கொரோனா வைரஸ் தாக்கப்பட்டு 12 லட்சம் பேர் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வரும் நிலையில் அவர்களில் 49 ஆயிரத்து 300 பேரின் நிலைமை மிகவும் கவலைக்கிடமாக உள்ளது. மேலை நாடுகளில் தினந்தோறும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கானோர் இந்த வைரசால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு உயிரழந்தோரின் எண்ணிக்கையும் தாறுமாறாக அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. கொரோனா வைரஸிற்கு இன்னும் தடுப்பு மருந்துகள் கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியாமல் உலக நாடுகள் திணறி வருகின்றன.

போலீஸார் ஹெல்மெட் சோதனையில் இரவு 7.30 மணியளவில் ஈடுபட்டனர். அப்போது,
தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டம் பாபனாசம், சூலமங்கலம் புதுத்தெருவை தம்பதியர் ராஜா
(என்ற) தர்மராஜ், உஷா (30) ஆகியோர் இருசக்கர வாகனத்தில் வந்தனர்.
உஷா 3 மாத காப்பிணி. போலீஸார் கைகாட்டி நிறுத்தாததால், மற்றொரு
வாகனத்தில் ஏட்டு காமராஜ் துரத்தி சென்று, தம்பதியர் சென்ற வாகனத்தை எட்டி
உதைத்ததாக தெரிகிறது. இதனால், தம்பதியர் நிலை தடுமாறி சாலையில் விழுந்தனர்.

வந்த வேன் ஏறியதில் 3 மாத கர்ப்பிணியான உஷா சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே இறந்தார்.
ராஜா பலத்த காயமடைந்தார். இதை கண்டித்து அப்பகுதி மக்கள் 3,000 க்கும்
மேற்பட்டோர் திருச்சி- தஞ்சை சாலையில் மறியலில் ஈடுபட்டனர். வாகனத்தை எட்டி
உதைத்த ஏட்டு காமராஜ் தப்பியோடிவிட்டார்.

3 மணி நேரமாக நடைபெற்ற இந்த போராட்டத்தால் 6 கி.மீ. தூரம் வரை வாகனங்கள்
நின்றன. சிலர் மறைந்திருந்து போலீஸார் மீது கல்வீச்சில் நடத்தியதாகவும்
கூறப்படுகிறது.
A pregnant woman died late Wednesday night in Trichy after being
kicked off a two-wheeler by a policeman carrying out routine checks.
The woman died after falling on to the road and being run over by a
van. She was with her husband, who was riding the two-wheeler, at the
time of the incident.
The news website One India Tamil, one of the local outlets that
reported the incident, said Usha, 30, was three months pregnant. Her
husband Dharmaraj (or Raja) was badly injured.
Thousands of protesters - some of whom are said to have pelted the
police with stones - were beaten "indiscriminately", the report said.
Many suffered injuries.
"It will be a sleepless night for many people...Irreparable loss to
him (Dharmaraj). She (Usha) was a great soul and lovable teacher for
many special children", wrote the editor of Puthiya Thalaimurai, a news
channel, in tweet.
"This is murder," said the state bureau chief of another channel.
But what exactly took place in the moments leading up to the
policeman's attack on the vehicle? Here's what One India Tamil's report
says happened:
Police were carrying out helmet checks on Wednesday night, and
Dharmaraj and Usha did not stop when they were asked to. One policeman,
Kamaraj, chased them on his own vehicle, caught up with them and kicked
their two-wheeler. The couple lost balance and fell, and Usha was run
over by a van travelling behind them.
Kamaraj initially escaped, but was arrested after people protested, Puthiya Thalaimurai said in its report.
Angry Twitter users prefixed their messages of condolence and condemnation with the hashtag #WhoKilledUsha.
"Cannot imagine her husband's feelings. May God give him strength," wrote one Twitter user.
