one can see at the right entrance of sanctum letters A R P paathukaapidam in tamil archeologist found out that British army were camping inside the temple and the hindus were not allowed to worship for nearly 100 years.so during 1 world war 11 army was trained in the temple .suppose there was any aerial attack army people were to go inside the sanctum for protection.
